@owen
The Fiat. Yes, if not today then just in a couple of days.
@Sariel
rare you goint to post the fait or not? I’m really confused. :/
That was some nice driving in the race, and that Landy climbed like a beast, looks like it had plenty of power! You’ll do better next year!
Hey Sariel, don’t get upset on the trial truck theme. Noone’s gonna say you didn’t try hard, there’s better and not so good ideas, you can’t know if it’ll work fine or not. You have the skills, and the experience can be gained. Better luck next year! Take a rest, and build something out of passion! =)
@owen
It’s not finished. I’m reworking it for the next race (September 4th).
when are you going to post the trial trial you recently finished?
i look it up for you dude 😉@Sariel
For quite a while I had this idea on a funner way to turn on a car with power functions. It would be to have a keyhole beside the steering wheel and behind would be a polarity switch with all the IR receivers and lights hooked up to it. On the other side of the switch there could be an axle with a short liftarm on it that rotates when the switch is turned on and would trigger a sound brick. Please reply if you follow or if you don’t understand it please tell me.
@stefanmaster96
Well, do they ship within the whole EU?
Yo sariel, i have a couple of things to say.
firstly can u click on my name, coz i have got a website with some of my models on! i would be nice!
also i found a nice little hobby store in london (where i live) with some nice vintage models!! just to let u know!
@gogolego
These wheels have diameter of 14 studs (11.2 mm) and good luck getting these, because they are extremely rare and even more extremely expensive.
@Sariel
the ones used on this motorbike: http://www.leggor.de/content/8291%20fat%20boy/8291%20fat%20boy0.html
this could be fun for trtr
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=428467
@gogolego
Which ones do you mean?
what is the size of those very big technic rubber wheels because I see them ocasionally in other peoples creations and I thought that it would be nice to get some too.
Ok, thanks!@Sariel
@Mihály Stépán
I’ll think about that. I can slow down the faster vehicles, and besides the videos at YouTube can be 15 minutes long now.
All right 🙂 can you cut upcoming trtr videos in two and accelerate it only 2x? It’s kinda un-enjoyable, you can’t really see the trucks, when they halt, speed up etc. I mean, if they are meant to be slow, show them slow. Truck trial is not for impatient people, is it? 🙂@Sariel
@Mike
LOL. No, the YouTube got the audio out of synchro somehow. I re-uploaded it anew, but it’s out of synchro again.
Hm, why was the video removed? Did you get hater comments, or something?
Wish you a whole lot of luck for the race! The truck looks good!
Ok, I’m glad you didn’t take it as an offense. 🙂@Sariel
@Mihály Stépán
Once the Charger gets a bodywork, the width of the tires won’t be visible. It’s a car with a low ground clearance, so you’ll have to look from the underside to actually note how wide the tires are.
As for splitting the future projects list, I can’t do that simply because I don’t know which models will be ready this year.
Hi Sariel! There’s something I don’t understand. You use very wide racing tires for the Charger, which is far from the real look, but you spend a lot on tan parts to imitate leather seats. As for the other projects, maybe you should fix four or five models that are surely going to be ready this year, it’d clear things up a bit. Your interest in truck trial is admirable, so are the “trucks”, but it takes up a lot of time, so you might need to reorganize the projects list. This is not a grumpy comment, just suggesting something before you fall way behind with the projects that hundreds are waiting to see come true.
Hope you don’t mind my comment, good luck with your projects!
Actually, I bought these wheels with the Bugatti in mind. And there’s no need to double the rear wheels, as the 8420’s rear wheels have much wider tires.
Hmm, those 8420 wheels (if you get some more) would look good on a vintage car, like the Bugatti you want to build, they are thin enough. You could also double the rear wheels, it was a common practice on the racing cars of the ’20s, ’30s (e.g. Alfa P2, P3 etc.)
Well then, it’s a good progress you’ve made in truck trial, you don’t spend all your time building them. I think that Wrangler was a milestone.
Many of us specialize just in Trial trucks. The crown gears are much weaker and more likely to snap.
Oh, and one more question. I think the 24 tooth crown gears have less backlash, are they weaker than the ones you are using in the rear suspension?
Hi Sariel, that rear suspension for the Fiat truck looks promising! You just have to be careful, the truck might get stuck on those reinforcing liftarms. Is there anyone amongst you guys who “specializes” only in building trial trucks?
Nope, I don’t have this one.
Out of wild curiosity, do you have the book Classic American Cars by Quentin Willson? 😀
Or you can see a black I think 1968 one (double round back lights) in the 1997 remake of Vanishing point, though not for long, they crash it up a bit…and there’s a black Charger in Bullitt, also not too lucky (runs into gas station)…haven’t seen the Tarantino movie, I’ll try to get it. Also I’ll look around on the web, I know you could order Challengers with 3 different stripe patterns, I’m curious what the options for the Charger were.
No, the whole body will be black, with yellow racing stripes. The interior will be probably dark grey, perhaps with tan seats. I’m going to use one funny detail, a minifig Jack-o’-lantern hanging from the rear view mirror. I do not share the General Lee craze, I’m more into Tarantino’s “Deathproof” when it comes to the Charger.
Hi Sariel!
I see some people want General Lee..:-D I think if you build a body with bricks, black is best, it “hides” the lines between the parts. Are you going to make the roof a different color? Maybe you could put a Rebel Flag sticker on to satisfy fans.. 😀
In the future.
when are you going to build the monster truck
No. Yes.
Sariel, are you going to use the 8448 wheels for the Charger? Is it going to have a live rear axle?
I think the tow truck II and the Liebherr mobile crane are great ideas, especially since you haven’t made many of either one.
Charger is a legend, Challenger too, I’m sure you’ve seen Vanishing point. Is this the R/T version? You know it’d be superb if you could use the micromotor to tilt the headlights…That’s something really mean on that car. 😀 Can’t wait! Good luck!
Yes, it was a very nice Tomahawk model.
oh, but that really sucks. Did you click on my link? And is the reventon going to be fast?
Sorry, I have absolutely no time to make instructions for something that complex. Hope the photos, video and description will inspire you anyway.
when you build the Reventon could you please publish instructions because i have been trying to build a super car for almost two months now and I never had success. So please can you make instructions so I can get an idea for a super car.
And by the way check out this dodge tomahawk http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/208464
Tilt sensors and motion sensors.
What type of sensors can you use in WeDo?
Sariel, for the Kenworth: I think it’s a kangaroo catcher! seriously, I read it in some article about road trains. 🙂
No, I don’t think so. I realize this vehicle has a legend of its own, but it’s technically very simple and would be a much better subject for people who build static models.
Hi (Paul) sariel,
I was wondering, are planning to make a Volkswagen Microbus? See URL :
http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/trucks/trucks-cars/14487/view/volkswagen_microbus_1960-1963/
Regards,
Ramacco
Actually, I thought about it and I think the Lego gears are incapable of keeping it accurate. They are nowhere near the quality of gears used in real clocks.
Hi Sariel. I’ve read you are not interested in NXT Mindstorms, but what about a LEGO Technic pendulum-clock ? 🙂 It will be very original. Anyway, I like your creations very much. You are a very talented builder
Sometime this year, probably.
When do you think you’ll be able to finish the lambo, because it’s been on the future projects list for ages?
I will use grey panels. The old ones, I mean.
How are you going to cover it in pannels if its grey?
Sorry, i’v must have been mistaken.
Then I suggest you do some searching, as Reventons come ONLY in dark grey. Proof: http://www.google.pl/images?client=opera&rls=pl&q=lamborghini%20reventon&oe=utf-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=pl&tab=wi
Well Sariel, me brother is really into super cars and most Lamborghini are yellow or orange as for the Reventon, I’v never seen or heard of a dark grey one.
Dark grey. That’s the one and only color for all Reventons as far as I know.
what color is the Lamborghini going to be?
I do not modify Lego parts and I do not use glue. Ever.
I read that you are planning to use two RC motors to drive the Scania racing truck, and will need to use two battery boxes if both motors are to run at full power.
It is possible to make a PF XL motor spin 6 times faster by modifying the internal gearing. I have done this myself by removing one stage of planetary gearing. (Instead of physically taking half of the planetary gearing out of the motor, I cut some of the teeth off the three gears on one of the stages, so that these three gears no longer touched the ring teeth. I then put glue between the sun gear’s teeth and the remaining teeth of theses three gears, so that these gears would no longer slide past each other, and then glued the three gears to the orange base of the unused stage of planetary gearing.)
It is possible to make the glued piece very strong, by gluing all the unused pieces together.
A PF XL motor with this modification spins around as fast as a RC motor, and has similar torque. The main difference is that PF XL motors can share one battery box, and are often easier to integrate into models than RC motors.
Yes it is.
I was looking at pictures of your excavator on Facebook, is the superstructure turned by just one medium motor?
@Manne
All right, thanks!
It´s formula offroad you are talking about. Search on youtube =)
@owen
Compare the BL prices and make your mind: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=5660
my friend wants to sell me the lego technic silver champion for $85 (USD). should i buy it?
@lewis
Yes I did.
@Sariel
Yeah, it was on like ten years ago.. maybe it’s like tractor pulling, they either broadcast it or not.. thanks for the answer!
ever thought about doing a rock crawler?http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/102625
@Mihály Stépán
I haven’t seen that and I don’t know what it looks like. But I think the RC buggy motor could be used for what you’re talking about, as long as the vehicle’s weight stays low.
Sariel, there was some program on Eurosport long-long ago, when (I think in Iceland?) they drove custom-built jeep-like things up slippery slopes in old mines, and the one who got farther won. Have you seen that? You have big experience with Lego motors, do you think it’d be possible to build a vehicle like that, which could go fast, spin its tires on sand or gravel, and make races with those jeeps? I’m just curious if it’s possible or not, what do you think?
my previous comment was @ sariel
I know a way to do so:
divide the measures of the front and back wheels, and find out a gear combination to connect these axles to together via a difficult gear up/gear down system. I have done so with the 8265 wheels and ‘8049 back wheels’, and succeeded after one hour in having just the difference of 8/1000 between the front and back axle.
@lewis
Well, it could work then, but if you want Lego 4WD with a central diff, you need the ability to lock it at any moment.
not even if you were to use a diff in the middle?
@legoinert
You can’t build 4WD using wheels of various sizes. Their speeds would differ.
Hi Sariel.
What about building a tractor with different tyres (the Steiger Panther has the same wheels and tyres) but building a tractor with smaller front wheels and larger back wheels and tyres, the total with 4WD?
@dustccarr
nah i think you should finish the digger first (not a big fan of supercars) 😛
you should finish the lamborghini reventon next
@Legomex
I’m glad you like the Morgan, but I’m not planning instructions for it. It was taken apart a long, long time ago, I would have to recreate it from my memory.
Model of a Morgan 4-4, features rear axle drive, functional steering wheel, full suspension, openable doors, adjustable seats, see pics for details
Hallo
Bernd Sagasser
@NXTnut9
I think July is the earliest term possible. No, there will be no machine gun.
Is their going to be a machine gun on the Hummer?
When will the Lamborghini Reventon be done? I am extremely anxious about it!
@Mihály Stépán
I guess you’re right 🙂
@Sariel
Yes, that’s what I meant. I wasn’t logged in when I tried after your comment; I opened it from here via the link. I think you tried first a couple of minutes after me posting it, that’s why it wasn’t public yet. 🙂
@Mihály Stépán
Brickshelf is moderated. Your content is always visible to you as long as you’re logged in, but it won’t be visible to other people until moderators approve it.
Besides, I got some 60 views on it, I think Brickshelf just needs some time to digest your uploads, whether they have some incorrect content.
@Sariel
How on Earth? I click on it, and it works OK, and I guess the computer doesn’t look at who’s clickin on it…
I think it needs some time to get public, like YOutube pending comments. Try again.
@Sebi
I don’t think so, I know many people like buses but to me they seem boring.
May I add a suggestion? I know vehicles with functions are your primary “area” of building, so this may fit well for future project. I’m working on a model of a Toronto city bus (Daimler Orion vii 2007 HEV) and i was wondering if you could add a bus to you future projects list because i’d like to see how you would do the doors or even a kneeling function. Im not focusing on the interior for mine, it’s way to small. thanks 🙂
@Mihály Stépán
Once again, your link leads to a non-public BS folder.
I’ll publish Hummer once it’s complete. And it’s not complete yet.
@ejaurand
Hey! Is “saginaw steering” the one with levers? I’m constructing something like that, see it on Brickshelf if you’re interested:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=431175
Hi! Are you going to publish the Hummer after the race only? I see you’re much into Truck Trial now, if you even put your dear tracked vehicles aside… haha! Can’t wait for the other projects!
That Hummer… wow. Sariel, you are one crazy dude. Wish you a shitload of success on May 22nd, and keep on ispiring bulilders!
@ejaurand
I don’t know yet. Most likely I’ll integrate the steering motor into the front axle.
When you are ready to get started on your monster truck I might have some ideas ready to help with the steering on the front axle. I have been playing around with saginaw steering for a double floating axle truggy I’m building, and I can’t wait to see how you handle the issue of steering a floating axle.
