The Killer Hamster of Caerbannog

A very special construction set in the world of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Only read if ye be men of valour!

I’m a huge fan of Monty Python in general, yet it did not affect my Lego constructions up to date (largely because the blueprint for the Trojan Rabbit is hard to come by). However, one evening I came back from work having an increasing fever, I administered myself a handful of medicines and went straight to bed. I was on the brink of falling asleep when the Idea came.

The Idea required an unorthodox building components: a couple of skeletons plus some skeleton heads, my slippers (which served as the rocky walls of the Cave of Caerbannog), two Bundeswehra-issued bandanas (mimicking the surrounding ground) and – last but not least – a single Lucius. The co-operation of Lucius was secured by an insanely large amounts of plucked sunflower seeds, which he has carefully collected and stuffed into his pouches to such point that his eyeballs were almost entirely out.

While the complexity of this construction may appear not-so-impressive, and its functionality limited, I urge you to appreciate the model’s acting skills (and the efforts of the photographer who had to work with an animal in constant motion, and barely made it out alive).

On a more serious note, rest assured that all blood and red eyes effects were added digitally to the original photos, and that Lucius enjoyed this little adventure thoroughly.

And the original movie scene, for those of you unfortunate enough to have never seen it before:

    I think the word you’re looking for is “sweet”. It makes quite a difference.

    @Phillip
    Well, these clearly lack the Holy Pin. How would you operate them without it?
