Mark I
My first model ever. Very small, features drive and steering powered by Power Functions.

This is the first time I dared to build a model of an existing vehicle. LUGPol user pepik should be credited for that, as it was his model of Mark I that inspired me to build a functional version. His creation was just slightly larger that the battery box, and that made me wonder if it’s possible to fit some mechanics inside. After much effort, it turned out possible.
The tank is built basically from two treads held together by a horizontally placed battery box. It was quite difficult to design treads so that they could work and has space for the box inside, and any kind of suspension had to be sacrificed along the way. The IR receiver is located in front of the tank, inside the driver’s cab, and two PF Medium motors are mounted behind the box. Each motor drives one tread at a very high speed – there was simply no space for more gear reduction. Some photos show the size comparison between the finished models and the PF elements it contains, as well as the model’s internal structure.
The tank looked well and worked well, which prompted me to try more models on my own in future.

I figured that it wasn’t called the Mark I Tank because it was your first model, as that isn’t really your style. But you uploaded a few other creations before you uploaded this one. Also, a coupla questions: How did you change the battery? And in some of the photos I saw a battery box resembling a PF battery box but LBG all over with some red parts. When was that released and is it part of the 9V system?

It’s called Mark I tank because it’s a model of a real tank called “Mark I”, which was called that because it was the first tank in history. It was kind of famous, you know. Somebody must have slept through history lessons.
If this is your first model, then why did you submit it after a heap of other stuff?

Great model, don’t see this often.
WW1 is also a time-breaking point in Mankind, an extremely weird war,
wich is somehow also fascinating, in the way we never want to experience again.
But, how to rebuild this Mark, are there building-instructions on paper?
