4-speed manual compact gearbox
Very small 4-speed manual gearbox with large gear ratio difference between particular gears. Can be built into bricks or liftarms, with 8880 gear lever or a regular changeover transmission catch.
This idea is based on a concept by Erik Leppen, who invented the setup of gears. I have rearranged them to make versions for the 8880 gear lever as well as for a regular changeover transmission catch, and I have later expanded this design to a larger number of gears.
On the photos below you will find diagrams of gear that transmit drive at each gear selected. There are also photos of a version built into liftarms and using a regular changeover transmission catch (which requires a slightly different setup of gears). Finally, there is a size comparison between this gearbox and the 8880 set’s original 4-speed gearbox.
great idea

Only if you use sufficient gear reduction between the gearbox and the wheels.
can this be user with high torqu like truck and trial trucks
@Noah
Sorry but I don’t have a specific list, only photos.
For the 4 speed manual compact gearbox, what is the breakdown of parts needed?
@Sam
I don’t think so.
Awww.. I don’t have the grey plate and it looks like an awesome gearbox. Is there something that could be used as a substitute?
you can find them in the old technic crane set for extending the boom@Arnau
@Arnau
You mean gray plates? They come from the 8448 set.
I know that you have the white plate for the gearbox from 8880, but in which set did you get those grey pieces for the gearbox?
